AADT DEBATE A ROUSING SUCCESS!

Illustrating the excitement of this year's Texas Democratic primary, the February 24, 2008 AADT debate drew a large crowd from both the Asian American community and the many Democratic primary candidates.

The debate featured Gordon Quan, former City of Houston Mayor Pro Tem and At-Large Council Member, speaking for Senator Hillary Clinton and Bob Gee, former U. S. Assistant Secretary of Energy and former Chairman, Public Utility Commission of Texas, speaking for Senator Barack Obama.

Segment 1: AADT President Mini Timmaraju's opening remarks and introduction of the Democratic candidates attending. U.S. Senate candidate Rick Noriega also speaks.

 

 
Segment 2: AADT President Mini Timmaraju's introduction of our two speakers, Gordon Quan and Bob Gee.

Segment 3: AADT Vice-President A. J. Durrani announces the ground rules of the debate. Gordon and Bob's opening comments in support of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, respectively.

 

 
Segment 4: The first question concerns the general topic of Asian American appointments in the Clinton and Obama campaigns and in their potential future administrations.

Segment 5: The second question concerns health care and how Clinton's and Obama's overall health care proposals will impact Asian Americans.

 

 
Segment 6: Question 3 concerns Clinton's and Obama's views of and experiences with the general issues of racial diversity, immigration, and racial profiling.

Segment 7: The final question concerns which candidate AADT should support.

 

 
Segment 8: Gordon's and Bob's closing appeals.
